Wells are the primary assets in all oil and gas field development. These, once they reach their economic limit or present serious integrity damages, which make their operational continuity unfeasible, must be abandoned in accordance with the current regulation of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Resolution # 40230 of July 7, 2022.
A job of technical abandonment of wells, for their full disincorporation, involves various services which must be very well coordinated and integrated in order to achieve a safe and successful intervention. In essence, any abandonment work must have a rigorous planning that considers all the potential risks that may arise in a major intervention of wells (workover), with this the best intervention program and the mitigation measures of the determined risks can be designed.

Surface Integrity Check and Wellhead Assurance
Intervention with well service equipment to unload pressure inside the well
Removal of completion elements still inside the well
Cleaning by means of hydraulic circulation and maintaining control with brine type
Acquisition of records of the integrity of the coating and the state of the existing cementation.
Cannonades to force cement and establish the barriers required for abandonment
Cementing operation, balancing of isolation plugs or forcing and circulation of cement that guarantee the hermetic seal of the pressures and fluids for their control towards the surface or intermediate aquifers
Installation of monument and plaque that summarize the technical data of the well, its productive life and the dates of drilling and final abandonment.
